Starting 1 April 2026, Singapore will launch the Beverage Container Return Scheme (BCRS) to go green and reduce waste. This is a simple “deposit-and-refund” system that will apply to all bottled and canned drinks that carry the official BCRS Deposit Mark.
How it works for you:
- At Checkout: A $0.10 deposit will be added to the price of your drink. This is a national requirement for supermarkets and other retailers, and FairPrice Group facilitates this collection as part of the government initiative.
- At Return: Once you’ve finished your drink, simply bring the empty, uncrushed container to a Return Right machine —located at over 150 FairPrice stores—to get the $0.10 fully refunded instantly via SimplyGo EZ-Link or DBS PayLah!.
By returning your containers, you’re not just getting your deposit back; you’re helping Singapore to recycle more effectively.
Look out for the official Deposit Mark on all drink packaging, appearing progressively across our stores by 1 October 2026.
