- Castor oil has been used in Ayurveda since ancient times. The plant is native to India and known by the Sanskrit name of Eranda. This highly respected oil rich in a rare fatty acid (ricinoleic) has been used to protect the skin and nourish the scalp and hair.

- • Hair: Simply massage it into your scalp with your fingertips, and leave it on for 10-15 minutes before rinsing out. This will help ensure that the oil seeps deeply into the scalp for maximum benefit. You can also use a comb to brush some of the oil through the rest of your hair to give it extra nourishment.
- • Skin: Castor oil is thick in consistency, so mixing it with a carrier oil before applying to face is advised. You could also add to shea butter for an extra-moisturising result. Apply this mixture to face before bed, after cleansing face. You can leave the oil on over night or wipe off with warm cloth after 1 to 5 minutes.
