Golden flaxseed, also known as linseed, comes from the flax plant, which is cultivated for its seeds as well as its fiber. The seeds, which are a little larger than sesame seeds, contain omega-3 fatty acids, dietary fiber and lignans. The big advantage of golden flaxseed is that it tastes better. There is not a big difference in the essential fatty acid contents of golden flaxseed and brown flaxseed. They both deliver about the same amount of alpha-linolenic acid.
