Oyster mushrooms | 150 g |
Plain flour | 1 1⁄2 cups |
Paprika powder | 1⁄2 tbsp |
Garlic powder | 1⁄2 tbsp |
Onion powder | 1⁄2 tbsp |
Turmeric powder | 1 tsp |
Cayenne pepper (optional) | 1⁄4 tsp |
Salt | 1 tsp |
Cracked pepper | 1⁄2 tsp |
Oil | 1 tsp |
Dipping sauce: | |
Creamy BBQ: mix mayonnaise and barbeque sauce | |
Sriracha |
How to cook
Step 1
- Wipe oyster mushrooms over a damp paper towel to remove any dirt
Step 2
- Combine and mix paprika powder, garlic powder, onion powder, turmeric powder and cayenne powder in a bowl
Step 3
- On a separate bowl, add in 1/3 of the flour mixture and mix with ¾ cup of water
Step 4
- Whisk until the batter has a smooth consistency
Step 5
- Dip each mushroom into the wet batter then into the flour mixture
Step 6
- Double coat each mushroom back to the wet batter and to the flour mixture in ensuring that it is coated in flour
Step 7
- Heat oil in a pot over high heat, carefully drop mushrooms into the oil one at a time in batches
Step 8
- Fry until it is golden on all sides
Step 9
- Remove the mushrooms from the pot and set aside for 3 minutes to keep crispy
Step 10
- Plate and serve with dipping sauce
