NTUC FairPrice and NTUC FairPrice Foundation wins ComChest's Corporate Platinum Awards

-$600,000 contributed to ComChest in the past financial year

NTUC FairPrice and NTUC FairPrice Foundation each received the Corporate Platinum award at the Community Chest Awards ceremony today. The annual awards recognise organisations and individuals that have made significant contributions in supporting Community Chest’s fundraising efforts. The Corporate Platinum awards represent the highest tier given to organisations that have made significant outright donations to Community Chest, with contributions of at least more than $300,000 in a financial year. The other tiers are Corporate Gold, Corporate Silver and Corporate Bronze.

NTUC FairPrice and NTUC FairPrice Foundation contributed about $600,000 to the Community Chest from April 2007 to March 2008. This year marks the first time NTUC FairPrice Foundation has received the Corporate Platinum Award, while FairPrice was also an award recipient in 2005. FairPrice has also won the Special Event Award from 2004 to 2007, and Bronze Corporate Award in 2006 as well as Gold Corporate Award in 2004.

At the awards ceremony, NTUC FairPrice Managing Director (Corporate Services) Mr Wee Leong How received the Corporate Platinum award for FairPrice from guest of honor President S R Nathan, while FairPrice Director of Marketing and Corporate Communications and FairPrice Foundation General Manager Mrs Teo Poh Yim received the Corporate Platinum award on behalf of FairPrice Foundation.

NTUC FairPrice Group CEO and NTUC FairPrice Foundation board member Mr Tan Kian Chew said: “The Corporate Platinum Awards affirm FairPrice and FairPrice Foundation’s efforts in partnering Community Chest to lend a helping hand to those in need. We are pleased that our contributions to the Community Chest in the past year has helped about 20,000 families.  Social responsibility is deeply rooted in FairPrice’s value system, and we will continue to work towards our goal to provide a better life for the community. We would also like to thank our customers and business partners for their support and for sharing our commitment to help the less privileged.”

In March this year, NTUC FairPrice launched the NTUC FairPrice Foundation, with the mission to provide a better life for the community.
