NTUC FairPrice Foundation launches $144,000 Daily Needs Programme for Society for the Physically Disabled

- Programme helps 200 needy families meet their daily essential needs

- FairPrice staff volunteers to deliver groceries to the disabled over two years

NTUC FairPrice Foundation is set to spread goodwill and festive cheer with its donation of S$144,000 in food vouchers to help some 200 needy families, who are clients of the Society for the Physically Disabled (SPD), meet their daily essential needs. The newly launched initiative, called the Daily Needs Programme, will provide $30 worth of food vouchers every month over the next two years to each family.

Mr Ng Ser Miang, Chairman of NTUC FairPrice Foundation and NTUC FairPrice said, "Having to deal with a physical disability is very taxing both for the individual and for their families as well. As part of our efforts to care for the community, NTUC FairPrice Foundation seeks to help the poor and needy through the provision of basic essentials. We hope that these food vouchers will assist families and provide some relief to their financial burdens."

Through the Daily Needs Programme, FairPrice staff volunteers will deliver groceries to recipients who have difficulties purchasing the groceries themselves.

Ms Chia Yong Yong, President of SPD said, "The donation will go a long way in helping these families in need. We are grateful to NTUC FairPrice Foundation for their support, and to their staff for volunteering their time with our clients. Their commitment in the provision of basic groceries and necessities is especially timely with the Lunar New Year just around the corner. "

NTUC FairPrice Foundation will continue to work with societies, organisations, and like minded partners on projects that will not only benefit the less fortunate but to also create opportunities for community engagement. NTUC FairPrice Foundation has supported various community initiatives such as the FairPrice Food Voucher Scheme and the Food From The Heart programme. To date, FairPrice Foundation has donated over $26 million to the community.
