NTUC FairPrice hosts Meet-and-Greet session to Congratulate Team Singapore athletes

Singapore, 1 August 2015 –NTUC FairPrice (FairPrice) today hosted a meet-and greet along with an autograph session for shoppers with Team Singapore athletes at FairPrice Xtra at Kallang Wave Mall, a sports-themed hypermarket. The session was held to congratulate Team Singapore’s outstanding performance during the recent Southeast Asian (SEA) Games. 

Mr Seah Kian Peng, CEO (Singapore), NTUC FairPrice, shared, “Team Singapore has
done us proud and we join the nation in congratulating our athletes for their achievements and stellar performance during the recent SEA Games held here on our home soil. As an official partner of the Games, we recognise sports to be a powerful platform that can unify and bring people from all walks of life together. During the Games, there was a spirit of camaraderie and national pride. It is for this reason we actively support the local sports scene as a way of building community ties.”

In the lead up to the Games, FairPrice also organised sessions where FairPrice staff and volunteers got together with members of the public to to sew Nila mascot dolls. Over 4,500 hand sewn and uniquely designed Nila mascot dolls were given to the Games medalists. Supporting a sporting culture Some highlights of FairPrice and FairPrice Foundation's contributions towards local sport include:

  • Donation of over S$500,000 for the Asian Youth Games 2009
  • Contribution of S$150,000 for sports scholarships for Singapore's Youth Olympic Games' medalists in 2010
  • Partnership with Singapore Sports Council (now known as Sport Singapore) to launch a national well-wishing campaign in FairPrice outlets for Team Singapore participating in the 26th Southeast Asian Games and the 6th ASEAN Para Games in 2011
