NTUC FairPrice sharpens focus on customer-centricity and fosters company-wide integration through “One FairPrice Family Programme”
As part of the One FairPrice Family Programme, corporate and management employees at NTUC FairPrice Headquarters (HQ) are requested to commit a minimum of three days to support in-store operations and engage customers
SINGAPORE, 26 January 2017 – NTUC FairPrice (FairPrice) has developed a structured initiative, called the ‘One FairPrice Family Programme’, that gives all management and corporate employees – numbering some 800 employees based at FairPrice Headquarters (HQ) – the opportunity to engage in operational activities to foster inter-department integration among FairPrice’s 10,000 strong workforce and sharpen its focus on being a customer-centric retailer.
Mr Seah Kian Peng, CEO, NTUC FairPrice, said, “Being attached to the stores helps staff stay connected with our frontline colleagues and promotes solidarity. This also facilitates better understanding of customers’ needs, the different functions of organisation and more importantly, nurtures a shared commitment towards our social mission in making lives better for the community.”
Over 46 percent of corporate staff have since participated in the programme, which was launched in November 2016. Under this initiative, corporate employees are requested to commit a minimum of three days annually to support the retailer’s key operational functions. The additional in-store support also seeks to alleviate additional manpower needs required to manage increased customer traffic during the festive peak season. Examples of tasks corporate staff engage in include attending to customers, replenishment, retrieving trolleys, and selling mandarin oranges during the Lunar New Year festive season.
Mr Bobby Chin, Chairman of FairPrice, and Mr Seah both took part in the initiative this morning at FairPrice @ Toa Payoh HDB Hub by assisting with operational tasks like bagging groceries and selling mandarin oranges. Mr Chin and Mr Seah also took the opportunity to express their appreciation to frontline staff for their tireless contributions to FairPrice.
