Ingredients
For Meatballs:
800g Minced Pork
1 cup Bread Crumbs
¼ cup Milk
1 Egg
1 tsp Salt
1 tsp Black Pepper
1 tsp Ground Dry Thyme
½ tsp Ground Cumin
4 tbsp Green Onion (finely chopped)
2 tbsp Grated Ginger
2 cloves Minced Garlic
For Honey Garlic Sauce:
4 cloves Minced Garlic
2 tbsp Olive Oil
1 cup Water
1 cup Honey
1/2 cup Soy Sauce
1/2 tsp Chinese 5 Spice Powder
1/2 tsp Coarsely Ground Black Pepper
2 tbsp Corn Starch Slurry
Method
- Pour the milk over the breadcrumbs to soak while you gather the rest of the ingredients.
- Put all remaining meatball ingredients in a large bowl and mix together well.
- Form into 2 inch balls. Keeping your hands wet with cold water prevents the mixture from sticking to your hands.
- Brown the meatballs on all sides in a non-stick frying pan for about 10 minutes then add in minced garlic to release the flavour and aroma into the meatballs.
- Mix the remaining ingredients for the sauce in a separate bowl and pour it into the pan of meatballs and let it simmer with the meatballs till they are fully cooked.
- Add in corn starch slurry to thicken up the sauce before serving it over rice or noodles.
